TESOL Africa Program Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission into the TESOL Africa program, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:

  1. University Entry Certificate:

    • Applicants must possess a valid and recognized university entry certificate, such as a high school diploma, A-levels, or equivalent qualification that grants access to university-level education in their home country.
  2. English Proficiency:

    • Non-native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency in English. Acceptable proof of English proficiency includes:
      • TOEFL iBT score of at least 80
      • IELTS score of at least 6.5
      • Other recognized English proficiency tests or certifications equivalent to the above scores
      • Alternatively, completion of a recognized English language course or degree in an English-speaking country may be considered.

TESOL Program Application Requirements

  • Submission of official academic transcripts showing strong academic performance.
  • Personal statement (500-700 words) detailing motivation, career goals, and relevant experience.
  • Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional references.

Additional Application Components

  • Current resume or CV highlighting educational background and work experience.
  • Potential interview conducted in person, by phone, or via video conferencing.
  • Payment of a non-refundable application fee.

Specialized Tracks Requirements

  • Additional entry requirements for some tracks, such as prior teaching experience or specific subject knowledge.

TESOL Africa trainees engage in collaborative peer work in the library, fostering a supportive and interactive learning environment. They utilize various resources, such as books and laptops, to enhance their language teaching skills through shared knowledge and discussions.
